Turkey announces lockdown on Eid holidays

In view of the spread of Coronavirus, a lockdown has been announced in Turkey on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. The four-day lockdown will start from May 23.

According to foreign media, after the cabinet meeting, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the lockdown will be implemented to prevent the spread of coronavirus, while schools will reopen in September at the beginning of the new academic year.

On the other hand, the Turkish Ministry of Education says that educational activities through the Internet and TV will continue until June 19.

According to the Ministry of Health, the number of coronavirus cases in the country is 1.593 million while 4,171 people have died from the virus so far.
